Texas Property Tax Code Sec. 6.12, requires the chief appraiser to appoint an Agricultural Appraisal Advisory board. The legislature created this advisory board to help improve communications between the farming and ranching community and the appraisal district. The agricultural advisory board must have at least three members. These members are appointed by the chief appraiser with the advice and consent of the appraisal district board of directors. The qualifications of the three required members are that the advisory board members must be landowners of the district whose land qualifies for agricultural appraisal. The purpose of the board is to advise the chief appraiser on the valuation and use of land that may be designated for agricultural use or that may be open space agricultural within the district.

The board usually meets once a year. The following are tentative dates of future meetings and a summary of the meeting.
